Empowering Lives, One Step at a Time

Building a sustainable orphanage in a region where poverty is a constant companion is an endeavour fraught with challenges.

Yet, within this landscape, Dasah Charity Home has emerged as a beacon of hope and resilience, illuminating a path toward stability in the most essential aspects of life—food, health, and education.

After just eight months of concerted effort, our vision starts taking shape, laying a solid and transformative foundation.

The Visionary Behind Dasah Charity Home

At the heart of this journey is Pastor Kibirango Dickson, a 26-year-old dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children in rural Gayaza, Uganda.

What began as a calling in 2016 has blossomed into a full-fledged mission since the founding of Dasah Charity Home in 2018. Today, this home provides love, shelter, and a chance at a brighter future for 35 children—15 boys and 20 girls, of whom 15 attend school.

The Heartbeat of Our Mission: A Community Rooted in Care

  • The backbone of Dasah Charity Home’s daily operations lies in the hands of two extraordinary women who have devoted themselves to the nourishment and well-being of the children. Their commitment transcends the mere provision of meals—an act of love and sustenance that nurtures both body and spirit.
  • But the strength of our community does not end there. The children themselves, though young, embody an indomitable spirit, supporting one another in ways that reflect the deep bonds forged in this unique family environment.

Progress and Future Aspirations

Our journey over the past eight months has seen significant progress. We’ve initiated a library that the children can access whenever they wish, cultivating a love for reading and learning.

Additionally, we’ve embarked on a fundraiser that allowed us to purchase two sewing machines.

Some of the village’s single mothers are now using these machines to make clothes for the children at Dasah Charity Home and sew for others, allowing them to earn a livelihood through a small business.

Moreover, we are nearing the completion of our website, a generous contribution offered with love by Edward Vali. This platform will be vital in sharing our story and connecting with supporters worldwide.

We are also in dialogue with another potential partner whose collaboration could further amplify our impact.

Looking Ahead: Strengthening Our Framework

We aim to build an even more robust framework for children’s development and care as we move forward.

A vital part of this next phase involves integrating some of the village’s single mothers into our family as ‘bonus mothers’ to the children.

Their involvement will be pivotal in providing consistent care and emotional support, creating a more nurturing environment.

However, realising this vision requires a steady stream of support from donors. A monthly wage of just $50 for each’ bonus mother’ is a modest sum with the potential to enact significant change—not only in our children’s lives but also in empowering these women and reinforcing the orphanage’s role within the local community.

A Call to Our Global Village

We look to you, our global village, to join us in this crucial phase. Your support could extend beyond the bounds of Dasah, seeding growth and stability throughout the area and fostering a future where children and mothers can thrive together in a community that embodies strength and resilience.

Transparent Support: Dasah’s Monthly Essentials

Transparency and trust are cornerstones of our work. To that end, here’s a breakdown of our monthly budget for essential needs:

  • A sack of maize flour (50kg): $81
  • A sack of rice (25kg): $94
  • A sack of beans (25kg): $51
  • Sugar (25kg): $75
  • Salt (5kg): $12
  • Toothpaste: $10
  • Soap (2 boxes): $35
  • Rent Fee: $200

Total Monthly Requirement: $558

Supporting Education

The cost of sending one child to school for primary and secondary education is $70 per term, with additional expenses for books, toilet paper, and reams. With 15 children attending school, this is a significant part of our mission.
